“Siapakah yang mau memberi pinjaman kepada Allah, pinjaman yang baik (menafkahkan hartanya di jalan Allah), maka Allah akan melipat gandakan pembayaran kepadanya dengan lipat ganda yang banyak. Dan Allah menyempitkan dan melapangkan (rezeki) dan kepada-Nya lah kamu dikembalikan.” (QS. Al-Baqarah, 245)

Islam mengajarkan untuk menyisihkan sebagian harta yang dimiliki umatnya, salah satunya melalui sedekah. Pengertian sedekah secara umum adalah suatu amal atau memberikan sesuatu yang dilakukan secara ikhlas tanpa mengharapkan imbalan. Dengan kata lain, mengeluarkan harta di jalan Allah Swt semata-mata berharap ridho-Nya sebagai bukti keimanan seseorang. Sedekah merupakan bagian dari upaya tadzkiyyatun nafs, membersihkan pribadi, baik lahir maupun batin. Jika hati bersih, rahmat Allah Swt akan mudah menghampiri. Sebab, Allah itu suci dan hanya berdekatan dengan yang suci.

Di dalam al-Qur’an, sedekah disebutkan sebagai salah satu ibadah yang utama. Begitu pentingnya sedekah, sehingga di dalam al-Qur’an terdapat banyak perintah mengenai amalan utama tersebut. Misalnya Firman Allah dalam surah Al-Baqarah ayat 245:

“Siapakah yang mau memberi pinjaman kepada Allah, pinjaman yang baik (menafkahkan hartanya di jalan Allah), maka Allah akan melipat gandakan pembayaran kepadanya dengan lipat ganda yang banyak. Dan Allah menyempitkan dan melapangkan (rezeki) dan kepada-Nya lah kamu dikembalikan.”

Bersedekah memiliki arti yang lebih luas dibandingkan dengan berinfaq yang hanya sebatas amalan berupa harta. Senyum sapa dengan ramah, perkataan yang baik (Qaul ma’ruf), menolong orang, mengajarkan ilmu, bergaul dengan istri, sampai menyingkirkan batu atau duri dari jalan sudah termasuk sedekah. Bahkan mendamaikan di antara dua orang yang berselisih pun adalah sedekah.

Disebutkan dalam sebuah Hadits,

“Kamu mendamaikan antara dua orang yang berselisih adalah sedekah; kamu menolong seseorang naik ke atas kendaraannya atau mengangkat barang bawaannya ke atas kendaraannya adalah sedekah; setiap langkah kakimu menuju tempat sholat juga dihitung sedekah; dan menyingkirkan duri dari jalan adalah sedekah.” (H.R. Syaikhoni).

Sedekah adalah amalan yang sangat simpel (sederhana), sehigga umat Islam dapat melakukanya kapan pun, di mana pun dan sekecil apa pun tanpa memandang kaya atau miskin. Sedekah yang dilakukan dengan keikhlasan dan ketulusan hati akan mendapatkan manfaat yang sangat besar, baik di dunia maupun di akhirat.

Sedekah memiliki keutamaan dalam Islam. Islam sangat menganjurkan bersedekah dalam setiap keadaan. Baik keadaan lapang (penuh rizki) maupun sepit. Allah swt berfirman dalam al-Quran Surat Ali-Imran ayah 134:

“(Yaitu) orang-orang yag menafkahkan (hartanya), baik di waktu lapang maupun di waktu sempit, dan orang-orang yang menahan amarahnya dan memaafkan (kesalahan) orang, Allah menyukai orang-orang yang berbuat kebaikan”.

Ayat tersebut menunjukkan betapa perintah sedekah sangat utama. Setiap manusia diminta untuk menyisihkan hartanya dalam keadaan apapun. Pendek kata sedekah tidak mengenal kondisi. Sedekah adalah bukti kepedulian seseorang kepada sesamanya.

Dimensi Kemanusiaan

Contoh praktik baik kehidupan tentunya terdapat pada Rasulullah Muhammad saw.Beliau bersedekah kepada siapa saja, tidak memandang apakah dia seorang Muslim atau pun Nonmuslim. Rasulullah saw tidak lagi membedakan hal itu. Sedekah lebih dekat kepada prinsip tolong menolong (ta’awun) berdimensi kemanusiaan. Kemalangan, kesusahan, kesedihan, pastinya pernah dialami oleh semua manusia. Maka sedekah kepada manusia adalah salah satu jalan meringankan beban tersebut.

Prinsip dasar bersedekah kepada siapa saja, tanpa memandang keimanan itu dipraktikan dengan baik oleh Nabi Muhammad saw. Alkisah, saat itu Rasulullah saw hendak melarang seorang sahabat untuk bersedekah kepada nonmuslim. Allah swt pun menegur beliau dengan melalui Surat al-Baqarah ayat 272:

“Apa pun harta yang kamu infakkan, maka (kebaikannya) untuk dirimu sendiri. Dan janganlah kamu berinfak melainkan karena mencari ridha Allah. Dan apa pun harta yang kamu infakkan, niscaya kamu akan diberi (pahala) secara penuh dan kamu tidak akan dizhalimi (dirugikan)”.

Ayat tersebut memberi petunjuk kepada ummat agar dapat berdekah kepada siapa saja. Bersedekah adalah kebaikan, dan Allah lah yang akan memberikan petunjuk atau hidayah dengan pemberian kita itu. Rasulullah saw pun akhirnya memerintahkan ummat untuk bersedekah tanpa memandang Muslim, Yahudi, Nasrani, Majusi atau yang lain.

Bersedekah kepada siapa saja juga diajarkan oleh Rasulullah saw saat Asma r.a., putri Abu Bakar as-Shiddiq. “Ibuku datang ke tempatku sedang dia adalah seorang musyrik di zaman Rasulullah saw, yaitu disaat berlangsungnya perjanjian Hudaibiyah antara beliau dan kaum musyrikin. Kemudian saya meminta fatwa kepada Rasulullah saw, “Ibuku datang padaku dan ia ingin meminta sesuatu, apakah boleh saya hubungi ibuku itu, padahal ia musyrik?” Beliau bersabda, “Ya, hubungilah ibumu” (Hadis Riwayat Bukhari dan Muslim).

Persaudaraan kemanusiaan dengan tetangga pun tidak perlu harus membedakan Muslim dan Nonmuslim. Kita perlu memandang manusia sebagai makhluk Tuhan yang mempunyai keyakinan yang berbeda-beda. Keyakinan yang berbeda itupun adalah fitrah.

Berdakwah ala Rasulullah saw telah berhasil membuka hidayah bagi seseorang. Sebagaimana Surat al-Baqarah (2: 272) di atas, sedekah telah membuka pintu hidayah Allah kepada seseorang. Dakwah dengan cara memberi dan tidak memandang siapa mereka akan semakin memuliakan Islam sebagai agama rahmatan lil alamin. Islam menjadi agama penyejuk dan menjadi solusi bagi persoalan keumatan dan kemanusiaan.

Mari membiasakan diri untuk berbuat baik kepada sesama tanpa memandang imannya. Mari membiasakan diri untuk melihat manusia sebagai makhluk Tuhan yang mempunyai perbedaan dengan diri kita, termasuk di dalamnya adalah keyakinan. Setelah itu mari membiasakan untuk memberi (bersedekah) kepada siapa saja untuk menguatkan kemanusiaan. []
