Makassar, Karebaindonesia.id — Ketua Komisi Pemilihan Umum (KPU) RI, Arief Budiman secara tegas mengatakan jika Pilkada 2020 tetap dilaksanakan sesuai jadwal yang telah ditetapkan pada 9 Desember yang akan datang.
Arief Budiman juga menampik isu terkait Pilkada 2020 yang akan ditunda akibat maraknya penyebaran virus Covid-19 di Sulawesi Selatan, Khususnya di Kota Makassar.
“Nggak, tetap dilaksanakan,” jawabnya singkat kepada awak media usai mengahadiri rapat koordinasi persiapan pelaksanaan kampanye dan sosialisasi pemilihan kepala daerah bersama 12 KPU kabupaten/kota di Sulsel.
Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Aula KPU Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan, Jalan A. P. Pettarani, Makassar, Selasa (15/09/2020).
Lebih lanjut, Arief juga mengungkapkan bahwa semua daerah 100 persen siap melaksanakan Pilkada 2020.
“Sudah siap (Melaksanakan Pilkada 2020),” tuturnya.
Sebelumnya beredar isu bahwa Pilkada serentak pada 2020 akan ditunda akibat pandemi Covid-19.
Bahkan banyak pihak yang juga menginginkan pelaksanaan Pilkada 2020 sebaiknya ditunda dengan alasan keselamatan masyarakat terancam karena pandemi Covid-19.
Salah satu pihak yang meminta penundaan tersebut datang dari Pakar Pemilu Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Abdul Gaffar Karim.
Abdul Gaffar Karim menyatakan bahwa mendukung hal tersebut dan jika perlu ditunda hingga tahun depan.
“Sebenarnya apa yang dikatakan oleh Ketua MPR dan Komnas HAM itu masuk akal, karena konsentrasi saat ini kan kesehatan,” kata Senin (14/09/2020) Abdul Gaffar dikutip dari Detik.com.
Diketahui, Komnas HAM merekomendasikan Pilkada 2020 ditunda karena pandemi virus Corona. Ancaman penularan virus Corona saat Pilkada berpotensi terjadinya pelanggaran hak orang lain.
“Dengan belum terkendalinya penyebaran COVID-19 bahkan jauh dari kata berakhir saat ini maka Penundaan Tahapan Pilkada memiliki landasan yuridis yang kuat, selain itu bila tetap dilaksanakan tahapan selanjutnya, dikhawatirkan akan semakin tidak terkendalinya penyebaran COVID-19 semakin nyata, dari segi hak asasi manusia hal ini berpotensi terlanggarnya hak-hak antara lain,” kata Tim Pemantau Pilkada 2020 Komnas HAM, Hairansyah dalam keterangan, Jumat (11/09/2020).
Dosen Fisipol UGM ini mengatakan sejak awal munculnya virus Corona atau Covid-19, banyak kalangan dari civil society menilai tidak ada urgensi Pilkada digelar tahun ini.
“Apalagi sejak awal kita sudah menyarankan agar Pilkada itu ditunda minimal setahun jadi September 2021 atau paling cepat Juni 2021 agar COVID-19 itu jelas dulu,” terangnya.
