Hal itu dilansir dari Stasiun Berita BBC pada Jumat, 7 Agustus 2020 lalu yang melaporkan Presiden Donald Trump menandatangani perintah eksekutif yang yang dimana aplikasi seperti Tiktok dan WeChat kini dilarang di AS dan berlaku dalam 45 hari ke depan.
Perilisan perintah eksekutif tersebut hampir bersamaan setelah pihak Microsoft akan membeli saham Tiktok yang saat ini dimiliki oleh perusahaan asal Tiongkok, Btyedance. Presiden Donald Trump berharap proses akuisisi oleh pihak Microsoft tersebut dapat terwujud paling lambat 15 September 2020.
Menurutnya, Bytedance yang memiliki aplikasi Tiktok berpotensi akan menjadi alat mata-mata Tiongkok untuk AS. Ditambah, perusahaan tersebut saat ini berkantor pusat di wilayah selatan California, AS.
“Amerika Serikat harus mengambil tindakan agresif terhadap pemilik Tiktok demi melindungi keamanan nasional kita,” ujarnya dalam perintah eksekutif.
Sementara itu, Bytedance seelaku pemilik aplikasi Tiktok terkejut akan keputusan Presiden Donald Trump yang melarang operasional aplikasi Tiktok di AS. Mereka berencana akan melakukan upaya hukum yang ada untuk menggugat keputusan Presiden Donald Trump yang dinilai menyalahi aturan.
Saat ini aplikasi media sosial sejuta umat itu telah diunduh sekitar 175 juta kali di AS dan 1 miliar di seluruh dunia.[]
